This past summer, some of our students were chosen to attend pre-college programs at Syracuse, Tufts, Skidmore, and NYU through the Charles Hayden Foundation. Pre-college programs are for high school students to prepare for college by taking classes, living on campus, and participating in activities. It's a mini college experience!
Additionally, some of our seniors were chosen to join college and career preparation programs like Thrive Scholars and Thrive Academies this summer!
We asked some of our students about their experiences this summer...
Above is Julia, a senior, who went to Syracuse University this summer. She's seen with Otto the Orange, Syracuse's mascot. She took two college classes: an English Course and Media Literacy, Popular Culture, and Democracy. Her favorite part about being in Syracuse was going on the weekly trips they took us on to see upstate New York!
Above is Frida, a senior and College Youth Leader, at the Thrive Academy. She took College and Math preparation courses this summer taught by college professors. Her favorite part was the career development workshops and new friends she made.
