brian Corby

Today marks what would have been John Lennon’s 84th birthday. As we remember this legendary co-founder of the Beatles, we want to take a moment to highlight someone among us who draws significant inspiration from Lennon: our very own Brian Corby.

Brian often shares how Lennon's music and message have influenced his outlook and creativity. It's a great reminder of how powerful art can be in shaping our lives.

Brian has been a Peace Teacher for 15 years. He attended Stony Brook University, where he majored in Mathematics. In addition to his work in the Peace Center, he also teaches in the Math Department.

During his early years of teaching, Brian developed a keen interest in psychology, particularly the concept of "learned helplessness," as theorized by Martin Seligman at the University of Pennsylvania. After his fourth year of teaching, he pursued further education in Clinical Psychology, earning his M.A. and Ph.D. from Fordham University.

Outside of his work at Fashion, Brian maintains a small private practice as a psychologist and plays guitar. He truly enjoys his dual roles as a Peace Teacher and Math Teacher and takes great pleasure in watching our students grow and mature over their four years with us.

Please join me in appreciating Brian's contributions to our community!
