Michelle's journey in fashion began when she attended a Junior HS feeder show with her 7th-grade guidance counselor—an experience that ignited her passion and commitment to return as a high school student herself. Michelle graduated for the High School of Fashion Industries in 1977. Fresh from the halls of the High School of Fashion Industries, Michelle went on to graduate from FIT in 1979 with a specialization in pattern making, loving every minute of it along the way.
After 34 years of inspiring young minds, Michelle retired in 2019, leaving behind a remarkable legacy.
Michelle beautifully describes Fashion Design as a form of “poetry,” blending world charm, skill, and art into functional creations. Beyond teaching garment construction, Michelle served as a Peace Teacher, shaping countless lives with her care and compassion. One of her most cherished moments was receiving a dozen roses on graduation day from a student facing volumes of challenges over years—a heartfelt gesture that brought tears to her eyes.
Michelle’s fair but firm approach has left a lasting impact, and she continues to maintain close relationships with many of her former students. To this day, she believes that teenagers are the most interesting people in the world.
Thank you, Michelle, for your incredible impact on the lives of so many!
