Tapestry

We wanted to thank Tapestry for hosting such a wonderful morning for us all. A day filled with innovation and raw talent. Our students could not stop raving about it, they left empowered & inspired. This incredible partnership between the 11th grade Fashion Design Accessories class offers students multiple access points per month were students work directly with employees at Tapestry to learn about its accessories companies such as Kate Spade, Coach and Stuart Weitzman and the multiple pathways available for students if they wish to pursue a career in accessories after college.

Our school is truly one of a kind, as a Career and Technical High School, our students in addition to fulfilling the New York State High School Graduation requirements, they have majors. Ranging from: Business Fashion Marketing & Management & Fashion Design. We also offer Art & Design, Visual Presentation, Photography, and our newest major Software Development.

Throughout their four years of high school, in addition to studying their major, they participate in various work-based learning/apprenticeship opportunities, engaging in real work, and hands-on experiences that coincide with their major.  We are fortunate to be allotted funding that is specifically for our Work Based Learning paid internship program. Students are allowed to work 15 hours a week, with a 30-minute break after 5 hours, during school breaks they can work up to 30 hours a week.

Our unique curriculum allows companies such as Tapestry to collaborate on various levels by tapping into the future of fashion.

A special thanks to Ms. Johar and Ms. San Jorge for working so diligently to ensure the success of this unique and innovative program.
