On December 5th 2024, our school community came together for a colorful Climate Action Day, where students, teachers, and local staff came together to pledge their commitment to sustainability initiatives. The event, organized by the Green Team, aimed to raise awareness and inspire action against climate change!!
Event Highlights:
Teaching Our Freshman Class About Recycling and Waste Management:
The School Equity and Emotions Team hosted two engaging sessions on the importance of recycling. In the first session, students participated in a "Sorting Garbage Challenge" to test their knowledge of recycling practices. During the second session, students worked together to create posters promoting sustainability. These informative posters will be proudly displayed in the lobby throughout Earth Month in April!
Green Team Educates Students on Cafeteria Waste Sorting:
The Green Team held an educational session to teach students how to properly sort their garbage in the cafeteria. Through guidance, students learned how to separate recyclables, compostables, and trash to help reduce waste and promote sustainability. The initiative encourages everyone to be more mindful of their environmental impact during lunchtime!
Pledging with Paint:
Participants were invited to express their commitment to sustainability by hand painting their pledges on the east side of the cafeteria walls. Each hand represented YOUR promise to take action—whether it was reducing plastic use, reusing plastic bottles or recycling effectively!
Engagement Statistics:
The event attracted over (number of hand prints, tbc/have to count) participants, fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility.
Overall this was a very successful art event and we thank you for your participation and support!!
If you’re passionate about the environment and want to get involved, join the Green Team every Wednesday after school in Room 743.
Together, we can make a difference :)
